Engineer Justus Ngerebara, FNSE, is a distinguished energy professional with over 20 years of progressive experience driving technical excellence, innovation, and operational leadership across Nigeria's oil and gas industry. He currently serves as Lead Well Engineer at Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) and is on secondment to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as Senior Business Adviser to the Executive Vice President (EVP), Upstream. In this role, he provides strategic technical and business advisory support to the EVP, enabling informed decision-making, strengthening operational excellence, and advancing transformational initiatives across NNPCL's upstream portfolio. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Rivers State University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineering from Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Technology Management at Columbia University, New York. His academic and professional background uniquely positions him at the intersection of engineering, technology, business strategy, and organizational transformation. Throughout his career, Justus has successfully planned, matured, and delivered multi-million-dollar well projects across onshore, swamp, shallow offshore, and deepwater environments. development, detailed engineering, contracting strategy, execution assurance, operational governance, stakeholder management, and organizational performance. He possesses extensive knowledge of Nigeria's regulatory environment while consistently applying global best practices in well engineering and project delivery. Widely recognized as a technology and innovation leader, Justus has championed the development, qualification, and deployment of several breakthrough technologies that have significantly enhanced operational performance within Shell Nigeria's deepwater assets. His notable contributions include the Bonga Single-Trip Completion, Remotely Operated Completion System (ROCS), Cascade3 Sand Control Screen, and the Wash Pipe Jetting Tool for injectivity enhancement and well stimulation. These innovations generated measurable business value, including a 25% reduction in deepwater well costs, a 50% reduction in non-productive time (from 30% to 15%), and an 18% improvement in Bonga well productivity in 2022, while further strengthening well integrity and HSE performance. Justus is an accomplished technical author with several Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) publications and is the recipient of the 2024 SPE Africa Regional Award for Completion Optimization and Technology.
