The Houston Ship Channel is the nation’s busiest commercial waterway. The 52-mile-long channel, surrounded by nearly 200 public and private terminals, is ranked number one for waterborne tonnage. Port Houston is the advocate and a strategic leader of the Houston Ship Channel and also manages the eight public terminals, including the Bayport and Barbours Cut Container Terminals and the general cargo terminals at the Turning Basin.
