The 2026 Canada Home Energy Justice Conference returns October 6–7 at Carleton University in Ottawa, bringing together community leaders, policymakers, researchers, utilities, and housing providers around one urgent goal: ending energy poverty in Canada.

Too many Canadian households are forced to choose between heating and eating. Over two days, the Canada Home Energy Justice Conference 2026 moves beyond talking about the problem to building the solutions — from community-led retrofit strategies and tenant voices in building performance, to a national strategy to end energy poverty. Through panels, lightning talks, hands-on workshops, and roundtable dialogues, you won't just listen — you'll help shape what comes next.

2026 Conference Objectives

The conference will again bring together academics, researchers, and professionals who deliver energy efficiency programs to low-income families. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, we aim to enhance the effectiveness of initiatives geared towards energy justice. Sector professionals can learn about the latest research and the application of the latest findings to program delivery and best practices in working with vulnerable communities.

Our unique format focuses on translating academic research into actionable strategies for energy efficiency programs. By providing a space where theoretical knowledge meets practical implementation, we strive to maximize the impact of research outcomes on the lives of those most in need.
