· Harri Makivirta is an energy consultant with 40+ years of experience in HVAC, refrigeration, energy management, audits, retrofits, commissioning, and renewable/alternative energy

· He currently is the lead contact for the IESO First Nations Community Retrofit Program and serves as Energy Manager for Temagami First Nation.

· He founded and led multiple energy companies, including Virta Energy Consultants Inc., Ontario Hydro Energy Services, and Mountain Stream Energy Systems, and more including energy efficient technology, installation, distribution, and manufacturing companies.

· His career highlights include early ground-source heat pump and biomass boiler projects, major theatre and retail lighting retrofits across North America, and Ontario Hydro’s first award for 1 MW saved and the first rebate recipient.

· He has delivered or managed major projects across Cineplex, Sobeys, non-profit housing, hospitals, colleges, universities, school boards, LCBO, and near-net-zero housing developments.

· He notable was the first in Canada to obtain ASHRAE certifications, including BEAP, CPMP, and HBDP, and has contributed as a speaker, panelist, moderator, roundtable member, and published/standards contributor to the IESO and Enbridge for energy efficiency programs
