As Climate Change Project Lead, Susan plays a lead role in the Building to Net-Zero project, working closely with municipalities and community partners to advance a more sustainable building sector. Prior to joining ICLEI Canada, she worked across the academic, non-profit, and local government sectors, focusing on local energy transitions. Her work has included Canadian environmental policy and governance, local energy planning, sustainable transitions, sustainable building development, and climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
Susan holds a PhD in Environmental and Urban Change and a Master of Environmental Studies from York University, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Her research uses mixed methods and equity-focused frameworks to examine just transitions, including energy justice, energy democracy, community energy planning, and collaborative governance.
