Krista Oxford is the Manager of the Department of Energy with the NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC), where she helps lead the development and delivery of community-led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and research initiatives across NunatuKavut communities in Labrador. Her work is grounded in advancing practical, community-driven approaches to energy that support affordability, sustainability, capacity building, and long-term community resilience. Krista brings extensive experience in project coordination, program management, partnership development, and community engagement developed through more than two decades of work with organizations and governments throughout Labrador. Her professional experience includes roles with Regional Economic Development Boards, Memorial University’s Labrador Institute, and Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, as well as extensive collaboration with federal and provincial government departments. Throughout her career, she has maintained a strong focus on improving access to programs, services, resources, and opportunities for Labrador communities. A proud Inuit member of the NunatuKavut Community Council, Krista was born and raised in central Labrador and has family and kinship ties to the Sandwich Bay and Paradise River areas. Her connection to family, community, culture, and the land continue to shape her approach to her work. She is particularly passionate about ensuring that the transition toward cleaner energy is community-led, equitable, and responsive to the realities of northern and remote communities, while creating lasting benefits for NunatuKavut Inuit and future generations.
