Telops’ Hyper-Cam Airborne Mini is an aircraft-based remote sensing system to detect and quantify methane emissions. The system is based on thermal infrared hyperspectral imaging technology. The performance of the system was recently evaluated in a single-blind controlled methane release experiment in partnership with Alberta Methane Emissions Program (AMEP) and LiDAR Services International (LSI). Join Field Application Engineer Jean-Philippe Gagnon, and LSI's VP of Sales, Jim Cormack, for an in-depth look into the operating principles of Telops’ Methane Airborne Detection Solution as well as an overview of obtained results and assessed methane detection limits for a wide range of atmospheric conditions and gas release rates.

Jean-Philippe Gagnon holds a master's degree in physics and worked at Telops since 2005. Since then, Jean-Philippe has been involved in the development of their line of infrared cameras and hyperspectral infrared imagers.
As a field applications scientist, Jean-Philippe works with Defense and Security Labs, Industrial Labs and University Research Centers worldwide to perform measurement campaigns and support their data analysis efforts in a wide range of applications. More recently, he is part of the team using Telops’ new miniaturized hyperspectral imager to quantify emissions from the oil and gas and maritime industry and thus help better understand their emissions and how to reduce them.

Jim Cormack is a recognized GHG policy and operations expert with extensive experience with corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) program development and financial risk reporting. Jim’s current work focuses on the areas of new market development, risk assessment, business process improvement, and governance activities for all aspects of LSI’s business. Jim has direct involvement in the development of many novel technologies and processes for the management of industrial GHG emissions along with input into the development of many current North American industrial GHG regulations.
With more than 30 years of experience in the oil, gas, and energy sectors; Jim is a past Chair of the Canadian Energy Partnership for Environmental Innovation as well as a past Chair of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America’s committee for Environment, Health and Safety. He has also been a member of the Canadian National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) Multi-Stakeholder Work Group.
